Sanctification in communion with the Carmelite Order

The Goal

The object of the process of formation in the Secular Order of the Discalced Carmelites is to prepare to live the charism and spirituality of Carmel. Every Christian is called to be a saint. Sanctification in communion with the Carmelite Order is one among other possibilities of getting closer to God and to achieve holiness that the Roman Catholic Church proposes.

Stages

The formation includes the following stages:

  • initial – from coming to admission to the Community, lasting from 6 to 12 months,
  • first – from admission to the OCDS Community to the first promises, lasting at least two years,
  • second – from the first promises to the Definitive Promises, lasting three years,
  • ongoing formation.

Members of the Secular Carmelite Order are obliged to:

  • Ritual
  • Ratio Institutionis
